Speech and Language Therapy

As a maintained nursery school in Hoddesdon, Hertfordshire, Rye Park Nursery School is deeply committed to supporting the development of our children's speech and language. Supporting Speech and Language Development

To ensure our children are well-prepared for the next stage of their education, we work in close partnership with a speech and language therapist to provide tailored support. We have commissioned the services of Sarah Dunne, a speech and language therapist, to work closely with our team, children and parents.

Through this collaborative approach, we are able to quickly identify and intervene when a child requires additional support. Depending on the individual needs of the child, they may receive targeted work, partner activities, small group sessions, and/or adaptions into our regular teaching practise.

Targeted Interventions

In our nursery classes, we utilise the WellComm programme to assess and support children's communication needs. This helps us to identify areas that require focused attention. Additionally, some children may participate in our Early Talk Boost intervention groups, which are designed to boost their language development.
