We are deeply committed to ensuring that we support the development of our children's speech and language to ensure that when they leave our setting they are well prepared for the next stage of their education. We work in close partnership with speech and language therapists to support children on the caseload and sign post children to services and for referral.
The school commissions the services of a speech and language therapist, Sarah Dunne. This additional support from Sarah ensures that we quickly intervene and support children if needed. Children are supported in a number of ways depending on their individual needs this may include individual target work, partner work, working in small groups and as part of our regular teaching sessions.
In the nursery classes we use the Wellcomm programme to help us identify and support children's communication needs. In addition children may join one of our Early Talk Boost intervention groups.
